London, UK – Tuesday, 8th October 2019 – Kaluza, OVO Group’s intelligent energy platform, today announces its partnership with Powervault, a pioneering UK energy storage company, helping accelerate the digitisation and decentralisation of the UK’s energy system.
As Kaluza continues to integrate with leading energy hardware manufacturers, this latest partnership enables local grid operators to effectively manage demand by tapping into Powervault’s in-built device flexibility. By connecting Powervault 3 home storage systems to Kaluza’s intelligent platform, customers can benefit from powering their homes when energy is cheaper and selling it back to the grid when needed.
Kaluza responds in real time to the grid’s energy supply and demand balance, wholesale prices and weather data, optimising the energy use of single devices, including home heating systems and electric vehicles. Coordinating these devices at scale, the technology pushes demand away from peak times while meeting consumer needs and reducing carbon emissions. Optimising smart devices with Kaluza intelligence will help transform homes into mini power stations and empower customers to actively participate in the future energy system.
Stephen Fitzpatrick, CEO and Founder, OVO Group said:
“Electrifying our grid requires a new energy system to connect every kind of smart device. Creating this diverse and distributed network will give customers more choice, more security and more value. Powervault is a pioneer in battery storage and we look forward to working with them, as we transition to an intelligent zero carbon grid.”
Joe Warren, CEO, Powervault said:
“We are delighted to work with Kaluza as the UK leaves fossil fuels behind in the move to zero-carbon alternatives. By dynamically storing energy off-peak, both customers and grid operators can enjoy lower energy bills, at no cost to the planet.”
Kaluza is an intelligent energy platform able to connect millions of smart devices, such as electric vehicles, heaters and in-home batteries, to produce vast quantities of flexible load. An OVO Group company, Kaluza operates end-to-end, providing software, hardware and in-home installation services to a range of partners. By optimising devices at scale to offset demand and cut carbon, Kaluza is driving the global transition to a distributed and secure, zero-carbon grid.
Powervault designs, manufactures and installs pioneering smart energy storage systems. The Powervault 3 is designed to maximise energy savings by storing solar energy and cheap off-peak electricity from the grid.
