Tokyo / London - 3 September 2026 – Kaluza today announced it has signed a long-term services agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation to support the roll-out of Kaluza's Energy Intelligence platform to electricity and gas retailers in Japan, strengthening the partnership between the two companies.

Japan is home to one of the world's largest electricity and gas retail markets. As competition intensifies, electrification advances and the energy system becomes more distributed, retailers face growing pressure to modernise customer operations, integrate and control flexible energy resources, and bring new services to market faster. Building on their existing partnership, the two companies will use this agreement to accelerate the deployment of Kaluza's Energy Intelligence platform across Japan's retail energy sector.

The agreement extends a collaboration that began with Kaluza Japan Ltd, established by the two companies in 2024 to deliver distributed energy resource control services in Japan, including smart EV charging. Through Kaluza Japan, the partners have already delivered results in early flexibility demonstration projects, including advanced residential V2X (vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home) projects.

Under the agreement, the two companies will take the following roles:

Kaluza will draw on its track record and expertise operating an Energy Intelligence platform that is live or in deployment with major energy providers across the UK, Europe and Australia to accelerate the development of a scalable go-to-market model for Japan.

Mitsubishi Corporation will apply its deep knowledge of Japan's energy industry and its extensive network to support Kaluza's market entry and expansion.

The announcement also underlines Kaluza's long-term commitment to Japan's energy market, as it continues to strengthen its operations in the country. Alongside the existing collaboration on distributed energy resource control through Kaluza Japan, Kaluza has established a new dedicated Japanese subsidiary, Kaluza LLC, to deliver its Energy Intelligence platform (encompassing core customer information and CRM systems), and has appointed Noel Pritchard, who brings extensive experience leading Japan market entry for international technology companies, as Country Manager for Japan.

Noel Pritchard, Country Manager, Japan, Kaluza LLC, said: "Japan's energy market is one of the largest in the world, and it is entering a period of profound change. Energy retailers face the '5Ds' – deregulation, decentralisation, decarbonisation, depopulation and digitalisation – alongside intensifying competition, the rapid advance of AI and growing electrification. Kaluza's next-generation Energy Intelligence platform is a future-ready technology foundation that gives retailers the speed and flexibility they need to strengthen their competitiveness in that environment. Our collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation is already delivering results in Japan. This agreement takes that work further and reflects our long-term commitment to the market."

Makoto Saito, General Manager, Domestic Power Business Office, Energy & Power Solution Group, Mitsubishi Corporation, said: "Kaluza's platform technology and global operating experience are highly complementary to Mitsubishi Corporation's understanding of the Japanese energy market and its broad network across the country's major electricity and gas companies. By combining these strengths, we believe we can build a unique position from which to support the transformation of Japan's electricity and gas retail market. We look forward to deepening this partnership and contributing to the continued development of Japan's energy industry."
