Expanded platform capabilities, breakthrough V2X technology and new partnerships accelerate the country’s energy transition.

Tokyo / London, 25 November 2025 — Energy Intelligence Platform Kaluza today announced a major expansion of its presence in Japan, one of Asia’s biggest and most influential energy markets. Building on its joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation and an expanding network of local partners, Kaluza is accelerating the deployment of its technology to support Japan’s clean energy transition.

The company is rolling out its platform across new regions and use cases, working closely with automotive manufacturers, retailers and energy providers to improve grid stability, integrate more renewable generation and lower the cost of electrification for consumers and businesses.

Key developments:

  • Partnership with Looop to deliver advanced smart charging at scale, with potential future applications in grid flexibility.
  • This marks Kaluza’s first implementation of smart charging using a dynamic tariff, enabled through its partnership with Looop.
  • Strong momentum from Kaluza Japan, the joint venture of Kaluza and Mitsubishi Corporation, driving localisation and ecosystem growth.
  • First deployment of V2X capability in Japan, marking a major step for bi-directional vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home technology.

At the heart of Kaluza’s platform is its Flex and V2X technology, enabling real-time orchestration of distributed energy resources. By connecting electric vehicles, batteries and smart devices to wholesale market signals and grid operations, Kaluza helps energy companies and automakers deliver resilience, lower system costs and better customer experiences.

In November 2025, Kaluza Japan, together with MC Retail Energy, Nichicon, Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Corporation, launched Japan’s first residential V2G and V2H demonstration. The project uses EVs to stabilise the grid and create new value streams for partners, representing a critical milestone on the path to commercial scale.

The new partnership with Looop builds on Kaluza’s growing footprint in Japan’s energy market. By combining Looop’s reach in retail energy with Kaluza’s smart charging software, the two companies are enabling customers to maximise the use of clean power and optimise charging based on real-time price signals.

The Mitsubishi Corporation joint venture remains central to Kaluza’s growth strategy in Japan. It enables local innovation, regulatory engagement and ecosystem coordination at scale, positioning Kaluza as a key technology partner in the country’s clean energy transition.

Travers Clarke-Walker, Chief Commercial Officer at Kaluza, said: “Japan’s energy transition is accelerating fast. With partners across the ecosystem, Kaluza’s platform is now enabling V2X and Flex capabilities at scale, uniting global innovation with local leadership to drive electrification.”
